iPhone 15: A New Launch Plagued with Issues, Say Users

The newly launched iPhone 15 has garnered attention, but not all of it is positive. Many users have voiced complaints about the latest Apple device, bringing to light several concerning issues.

While many people are praising the iPhone 15 for its advancements, it's far from perfect. Even some long-time Apple enthusiasts are raising concerns. According to reports from Mashable, several common problems have been widely noted by iPhone 15 users.

Here are some of the major issues iPhone 15 users are experiencing:

1. Overheating Problems

One of the most significant complaints is that the iPhone 15 tends to overheat, especially during heavy gaming sessions. Users have also reported overheating when recording high-quality 4K videos. In some cases, users claim to hear a hissing sound while charging their devices. There are even reports of the device becoming too hot to comfortably handle during phone calls.

According to 9to5Mac, this overheating issue affects all models of the iPhone 15 series. Infrared measurements show temperatures as high as 116°F (46.6°C). While Apple is expected to address this issue with a software update, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests the problem stems from design compromises made to achieve a lighter device.

2. Buggy Data Transfers

Several iPhone 15 users have encountered issues when transferring data from older iPhones. They report being stuck in a boot loop, with the Apple logo continuously appearing during the data migration process. Fortunately, Apple has released an iOS update to resolve this issue.

New iPhone 15 owners are encouraged to update to the latest version of iOS during setup to avoid this problem. Those who still face issues can perform a reset and then proceed with the update to ensure smooth data migration.

3. Sluggish iOS Performance

Some users have also reported that their iPhone 15 feels sluggish or lags, which could be related to the newly launched iOS 17. Additionally, many apps may not yet be optimized for iOS 17 or the new iPhone models, contributing to the decreased software performance. However, this issue is likely temporary and should improve as more app updates are released.

4. Fingerprint Smudges

Another commonly reported problem is the iPhone 15’s susceptibility to fingerprint smudges. Users have noticed that the new titanium frame is more prone to visible dust, fingerprints, and smudges. Some users have even reported scratches and display issues right out of the box. For those who encounter such problems, Apple recommends returning or exchanging the device.

5. Durability Concerns

One of the most serious complaints about the iPhone 15 relates to its durability. Longtime iPhone users have noted that the new flagship series is more fragile compared to older models. YouTuber JerryRigEverything conducted a durability test and found that the back of the iPhone 15 cracked under minimal pressure.

Additionally, Sam Kohl from AppleTrack performed a drop test, discovering that the iPhone 15 was significantly more fragile than its predecessor, the iPhone 14. Surprisingly, Kohl believes that the titanium frame isn’t solely to blame for this weakness. He suggests that the iPhone 15’s curved edges may also contribute to its fragility.
